The history of model beads
1990
Childhood in the Kiel Fjord
Even as a child, Patrick stood with his grandmother on the Kiel Fjord, marveling at the large Baltic Sea ferries. He first discovered model ships in a shop, but they were still too expensive back then.
2012
The first ship model
By purchasing the Color Fantasy At a scale of 1:1250, Patrick finally fulfilled his childhood dream. This was the beginning of a collection that continues to grow to this day.
2021
From collector to heart project
Through close interaction with manufacturers, dealers, and other collectors, Patrick's knowledge grew, as did his desire to pursue his passion. When industry colleagues encouraged him to become a dealer himself, it quickly became clear: his private collection would become a professional passion project.
2022
The Modellperlen webshop goes live
January 22, 2022, was an exciting day for the Modellperlen team: The Modellperlen online shop for ship models finally went live. Months of intensive planning and programming went into this project to offer collectors and enthusiasts of ship models a great shopping experience. From the design to the user-friendliness, every aspect was carefully considered and extensively tested.

Diversity and unique highlights
Since launching our online shop, we have steadily expanded our product range and added more and more manufacturers to our offerings. The selection is complemented by secondhand models, our first own models, and special highlights such as ballpoint pens made from original railing wood and books on shipping and model making. With each new product, we aim to make our passion tangible and bring special joy to our customers.

We're looking forward with excitement: We're already planning more of our own model ships, and we'll continually expand our selection of secondhand models. At the same time, we're committed to working closely with manufacturers so we can offer their latest releases directly through us. This way, we want to continually present new, special treasures to collectors worldwide.
