Our Passion for Model Ships
As collectors ourselves, we know how special it feels to finally find a ship model you've been searching for.
Today, we offer new and pre-owned ship models, maritime collectibles and our own exclusive model series. What began with a passion for ships and collecting models remains at the heart of Modellperlen today.

Kiki makes sure we take regular breaks so we can return to our ship models feeling refreshed and focused. Her favourite things are sleeping, enjoying treats and playing with her dog friends.
From Passion to Company
The History of Modellperlen
1990
Childhood in the Kiel Fjord
Even as a child, Patrick stood with his grandmother on the Kiel Fjord, marveling at the large Baltic Sea ferries. He first discovered model ships in a shop, but they were still too expensive back then.
2012
The First Ship Model in My Collection
By purchasing the Color Fantasy At a scale of 1:1250, Patrick finally fulfilled his childhood dream. This was the beginning of a collection that continues to grow to this day.
2021
From Collector to Heart Project
Through close interaction with manufacturers, dealers, and other collectors, Patrick's knowledge grew, as did his desire to pursue his passion. When industry colleagues encouraged him to become a dealer himself, it quickly became clear: his private collection would become a professional passion project.
2022
The Modellperlen Online Shop Goes Live
On January 22, 2022, the time had finally come: After months of careful planning and development, our Modellperlen online shop went live. It was a special moment for us, as it allowed us to share our passion for ship models with even more collectors.
2025
Our First Ship Models
In 2025, we launched our own Modellperlen model series with ZENITH. One of the most exciting challenges was recreating its distinctive funnel using 3D printing. Later that year, VIKING III followed in several different versions. As the ship once sailed for Color Line, our favourite shipping company, this model holds a special place in our hearts.
2026
Our First Ship Model for a Shipping Company
In 2026, we produced FILIPPOS, our first ship model commissioned by a shipping company. We created the model for Halkidon Shipping Corporation according to their individual requirements. A particularly special moment was personally delivering the models in Greece, where we had the opportunity to meet the people behind the shipping company.
Today
Many Models, Many Stories
Looking back at how Modellperlen has developed, we are grateful for everything we have achieved so far. What makes us especially happy is knowing that we have already sent so many ship models to collectors. Many of these models have a personal story behind them, and it's wonderful to know that they bring joy to their new owners.
The Future
New Models and Exciting Projects
We still have plenty of plans for the future. More ship models from our own Modellperlen series are already in the works. At the same time, we want to continue developing our selection of new and pre-owned models and discovering special ships for collectors. We're excited to see what new opportunities and projects the coming years will bring for Modellperlen.
