In December 2024, a serious environmental disaster occurred in the Kerch Strait when two Russian Volgoneft-class tankers sank and caused a massive oil spill. These robust tankers, designed as double-hulled ships back in the 1970s, have lost stability due to aging and material fatigue.
The Volgoneft 239 model shows this historic tanker in its original color scheme from 2002 - uniformly in light gray, as it was once put into service. It faithfully reproduces the proven design of this class of ship. A must for collectors of historic tankers and lovers of maritime history.
