In December 2023, a major environmental disaster occurred in the Kerch Strait when two Russian Volgoneft-class tankers sank, causing a massive oil spill. These robust tankers, designed as double-hull ships back in the 1970s, have lost stability due to ageing and material fatigue.
The Volgoneft 239 model shows the historic tanker in its last livery (2024) - with a blue hull and reddish-brown main decks, as it was in service shortly before the accident. An impressive replica that keeps the history of this class of ship alive. Perfect for collectors of historic tankers and maritime enthusiasts.
